About us
A family farm with deep roots, local values, and a royal rumour
I’m Andy Green and Kings Farm has been part of my family since 1908, when my great-grandfather first bought the land.
Today, I run the farm across 200 acres of pasture in Writtle, just outside Chelmsford, producing locally reared lamb and mutton with low food miles and full traceability.

A local legend
The name ‘Kings Farm’ comes from a local legend that Robert the Bruce, the famous Scottish King, was born on the land opposite. Whether or not it’s true, I like to think there’s something special about this patch of Essex.
My mission is to keep things simple on the farm:
Let the animals graze naturally
Follow the rhythm of the seasons
Sell what we raise, straight from the land.

Quality
Grass-fed lamb and local honey
Our grass-fed lamb is sold fresh during the peak season, not mass-produced or imported. This means less stress on the animals, fewer food miles, and better-tasting meat for your table.
In association with a local beekeeper, we also have a small apiary (collection of bee hives) on the farm. Our local honey is raw, small-batch, and just as nature intended.
If you're someone who values quality, provenance and proper farming, buy your lamb from here.
